When "dead fish in bed" becomes literal: Islamic Cleric says it's okay to have sex with the dead spouse!

On my website I make it very clear that I believe in traditional canine values and about now, I am very glad we dogs are not loved in Islam. Oh sure, Muslims can own dogs. But the doggie has to stay outside, lest angels not come into your home!

 Anyway, recently a Muslim cleric declared necrophilia to be okay in Islam. According to news reports: "Egypt’s Islamist-dominated parliament is set to introduce a law allowing husbands to have sex with their dead wives up to six hours after death. Critics fear it highlights a trend of increasingly anti-female legislation since the Arab Spring".

Women's rights groups in Egypt are protesting this as a set-back for women's rights and rightly so. Can't a woman even get rest from her over-sexed mate when she passes away? Why the six hour time frame? Because after that, the person isn't only dead, rigor has set in and the "stiff" becomes "stiff".

Though, time frames vary depending on several factors, usually rigor sets in between 3-4 hours after death but could delay up to six hours. While the world focuses on the morbid aspects of the legal changes facing women in Egypt (lets face it, gross "sells"), two other elements of the law actually threaten women more: 1) Changing the legal marriage age from 16 to 14. 2) Reversal of reform measures set in place over a decade ago which allowed women in abusive marriages to seek divorce without interventions from the husband.

These legal changes should be far more disturbing. You know the expression: dead men tell no tales? Well, dead women feel no nookie. But a young, fourteen year old girl who may want to go on to college, or move about freely, could find herself married off even before she graduates high school. And chances are, with the recent changes, the age will go down the slippery slope to childhood soon enough. And wives are now more at risk than ever.

Imagine being an abused wife and not being able to obtain a divorce and seek some happiness because the state won't let you divorce the abuser without his in-put! Muslims with an ounce of sense are protesting the laws in question. How successful they'll be in overturning it is anyone's guess. But right now, I am glad I'm a dog. If this is the view of Muslims towards people, I would just as soon stay outside! Til next time, America! --OSCAR--
